El 27 de febrero de 2022, Max habló de un posible vídeo musical para la canción. Más tarde se confirmó que el vídeo musical sería dirigido por Joseph Kahn, quien previamente dirigió el video musical de su canción "Torn".
El 2 de marzo de 2022, se agregó "Maybe You're the Problem" al sistema de derechos de autor de YouTube. Más tarde ese día, Max confirmó en el evento Women in Music de Billboard que se lanzaría como el sencillo principal de su segundo álbum de estudio a finales de ese mes.
