Se filtró un fragmento de siete segundos en julio de 2021. @peteglowdc en Instagram subió un fragmento de 15 segundos de la canción en su cuenta junto con muchas otras personas que subieron fragmentos de baja calidad de la canción.
Tiësto estrenó originalmente la canción para sus fanáticos durante un concierto en vivo.
Ava habló sobre The Motto en una entrevista con Billboard: “[Tiësto] me envió la canción y no tengo nada como esta canción, así que dije: 'Esto es una locura, me dan ganas de ir a discotecas'. Y por lo general soy como un hogareño, no me gustan las discotecas, así que ahora que he hecho esa canción, quiero ir a discotecas”.
