"Alone, Pt. II" is a song by Norwegian record producer Alan Walker and American singer Ava Max. It was released as a single on December 27, 2019 through Sony Music Entertainment.

A live version of the song recorded at Château de Fontainebleau was released February 21, 2020 with a music video that came four days prior.

A seven track remix EP was then released a few days later on February 27, 2020.

Background

The song is a sequel to Walker's 2016 single "Alone" and a direct follow up to "On My Way" as it is the second song in his current "World of Walker" music video trilogy.

Promotion

Walker promoted the song by launching a digital escape room-style game in which players can play as the characters in his current "World of Walker" trilogy featuring "On My Way", "Alone, Pt. II," and an upcoming 2020 single.

Critical reception

Jason Lipshutz of Billboard praised the song, writing that it "demonstrates the evolution of Walker’s production techniques -- he’s become a surefire crowd-pleaser, and with a little luck, this track could cross over during the doldrums of winter."

Lauren Klonowski of Beyond The Stage also praised the song,calling it a "great collaboration if there ever was one" and states that the two "nail the feeling of being alone and just longing for the special someone to come into our lives and make it better."

Alan Walker & Ava Max - Alone, Pt. II

The music video serves as the second installment of Walker's current "World of Walker" music video trilogy and is a direct follow up to his previous single "On My Way". It was released on December 27, 2019, three hours after the release of the song, and was directed by Kristian Berg. Max and Walker are absent in the video, and the main protagonist is played by Susanne Karin Moe.

Alan Walker & Ava Max - Alone, Pt. II (Live at Château de Fontainebleau)

Max and Walker released a second video of the song, this time performed live at the Château de Fontainebleau in France, on February 17, 2020. The video was again directed by Kristian Berg and features live vocals and production from Max and Walker as well as a background choir.
