Background

On May 2, 2024, Max appeared on The Viall Files podcast, where she mentioned a "cherry popping" song she recorded in the fall of 2023 that fits this song's description. While she didn’t confirm whether it would be released at the time, she hinted at its eventual scrap due to its uncomfortable subject matter, one she felt unsure of her family hearing.

On July 20, 2024, the unfinished writer's demo leaked.

On February 8, 2025, Max's version of the song leaked in full.
