Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, born on February 15, 1995, is an American rapper better known by her stage name, Megan Thee Stallion. She is originally from Houston, Texas, and initially came to notice when social media users started sharing videos of her freestyling on sites like Instagram. After signing with 1501 Certified Entertainment in 2018, she experienced her big break the following year with the release of her singles "Cash Shit" (featuring DaBaby) and "Hot Girl Summer" (featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj); the latter went on to become quadruple platinum certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The former peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Cash Shit" was also included on her commercial mixtape Fever (2019), which was followed by her extended play Suga (2020)—both of which peaked within the top ten of the Billboard 200.
