"Tattoo" (originally titled "Black Shoes") is a song by American singer Ava Max. It was released on September 18, 2020, through Atlantic Records as the fourth track on her debut studio album Heaven & Hell.
Background[]
On September 22, 2018, Max posted a snippet of a new song on her Instagram story captioned "Should I drop this record?". The official title was currently unknown (Fans speculate the title of the song is Tattoo or Permanent).
In June 2020, the song was registered to GEMA with writing credits from singer Charlie Puth.
On August 29, 2020, Max posted a new snippet of the song to her social medias telling her fans to guess what song was playing.[1]
On September 15, 2020, Max shared a snippet of the song to her social medias in anticipation of her debut studio album Heaven & Hell.[2]

- Max confirmed that the song was originally called “Black Shoes”, but as it wasn't relatable they took help from Charlie Puth and changed it to Tattoo.[3]
