On June 10, 2025, Max posted a clip from the Lovin Myself music video to mark its one-week anniversary. The thumbnail (can be viewed from her full profile) features the previously mentioned 'Wet, Hot American Dream' teaser frame, and the caption reads, '[...] I have so much more music coming for you this summer 🙊,' hinting further at an upcoming official song announcement.[7]
On June 13, 2025, Max reposted a TikTok with the song's audio.[8]
On June 16, 2025, the song was registered to the YouTube copyright system under the title "Wet, Hot American Dream".[9]
On June 19, 2025, a new snippet was posted by Max's official Instagram page with the caption, "wet hot american dream coming soon 🥵".[10]
On June 24, 2025, Max posted a picture of herself getting ready to shoot the music video to the song on her Instagram story.[11]
On June 30, 2025, Max announced that the single would release the following day on Instagram: "SURPISEEEEE 🙊 WET, HOT AMERICAN DREAM TOMORROW AT 12PM ET 🇺🇸🥵". [12]
