"Wild Thing" is an unreleased song by American singer Ava Max. It was initially supposed to be released on her debut studio album Heaven & Hell until it was later replaced by "Rumors". ( AUDIO)

Background

The song was originally listed as the twelfth track of Heaven & Hell on a preview render of the album's hell side cassette when Max's official merchandise store first launched. However, the images were later taken down and the track was revealed to have been replaced by "Rumors" when the track list was officially announced. A seven-second snippet of the song was leaked in the weeks preceding her album's release.

In a 2021 interview, Ava was asked about the status of "Wild Thing" and "No Angel", and she responded saying, "Maybe those songs will make an appearance in the future but right now, they are in my 'holding box'," insinuating that the songs might be released some time in the future but as of now, she has no plans to release them.

On January 1, 2022, Max posted a series of images from a photoshoot she had with Basic Magazine. The magazine cover itself had Wild Thing's name written under Max's name, which sparked rumors that she would release the song.

In 2023, Ester Dean's writers demo leaked. The song was originally called "Sorry".

On June 5, 2023, a user on Twitter revealed that he had asked Max about the song at her “On Tour (Finally)” meet and greet. She responded saying that she loved the song and would talk with her team to see if they could release it.

The song was registered to GMR at an unknown date.

• According to the demos WAV file, the song was made using Pro Tools and was exported on May 26, 2020.
  • In the finals M4A file, all producers and writers are credited. It is also encoded with iTunes, but the specific version is not listed.
• The final version is louder with more kicks added throughout certain parts of the song, most notably the second half of the second pre-chorus.
